Finishing off our October interviews we have Future Resonance.

Coming all the way from New Zealand, Diego Mejier a.k.a. Future Resonance has really been making himself known not just as a DJ by winning "Best DJ at the 2009 New Zealand Nite:Life Awards" but as a producer with releases on Toolbox, Fireball, Carbon, Stereodays and of course with us here at The Beat Ranch.

Now with out any further ado, Future Resonance

Welcome Diego, you are no stranger to us as you have had 2 releases with us, your remix with Manik of Our Briefcase and your remix of House Roolz, both stomping tracks to say the least. For those who do not know where abouts are you from?

I'm half Dutch and half Italian, but I moved to New Zealand when I was 19, so by now I consider myself a Kiwi! I call NZ home anyway!

Hows the scene out there at the moment?

Real good! Our scene is doing pretty well and it has for the last few years, we are quite lucky as we get small to large events and the hard dance rooms are always pumping! The gigs here in Auckland vary from 2/300 people in small venues to the biggest ones that get up to 3000 people, I think this is pretty good considering the small size of our NZ population!

You started DJing before production, where you a vinyl junkie or has it been all digital for you?

haha No I started DJing 2.5 years ago, back then it was already hard to find a tunetable in a club and all our record shops had closed by then so my only option was going digital from the beginning! Plus starting from zero I couldnt have afforded to build up vinyl regardless of

You currently have a radio show on UPFM, when can people hear ya play?

Yes I have been on UPFM for 2 years now, pretty much since day one when I started playing out! My first show was on a monday night from 10 till 12, worst possible time ever to be mixing! Now I have the best slot of the all station, that I am real happy with! The Stereodays Show is on Friday night from 10 till 12, you can stream it live on www.upfm.dj and even message the studio fro free from the website, thats obviously NZ time (www.worldtimeserver.com)

If you could play anywhere in the world for a night where would it be and why?

Ibiza and Koko in London! Ibiza just because its one of my goals to do a season there at some stage in the future, I dont think I need to explain why! And Koko in London because I was there a couple of years ago and that place was on fire! Best atmosphere ever! Plus just the way the main room is facing the stage from all directions, its just awesome!

What track(s) do you not leave home with out?

Because in NZ I get booked for Hard House and Hard Trance sets there are quite a few tracks I always have with me, but here just a few

Plus all the new stuff obviously! But yea those tracks are some of my favorites of all times.

When is your next gig?

I'm playing at Slinky tonight! Closing the hard dance room, 4 till 6am. And playing with Adam M next weekend in Tauranga on Friday and Auckland on Saturday.

On the production front the New Zealand sound is really taking off with the likes of Manik, Butcher Boy and yourself to name just a few. Who or what do you think pioneered the sound to what it is today?

In terms of New Zealand hard house, the main pioneers are Dr Tre (High Dosage) and Manik, they are both active & making big tunes and have for the last 5 years or more. Especially Manik, he's on fire and does influence the scene quite a bit. I think its no secrete that NZ likes hard house at the hardest, so a lot of the softer hard house that is being made in the UK passes by quite fast and only the hardest tune stay and get played longer. I think I play quite melodic for the average NZ DJ, but still managed to play out every weekend for 2 years I guess because I still love to bang it out when its needed!

Who has impressed you this year with their production?

NZ wise, Manik & Dr Tre & Pequire I learn heaps from them, I can say they are the reason why I got where I am now in just over a year and a bit.

Globally Nik Denton & Adam M this year as become one of my favorites and although its a bit softer then my average likings Scott Fo-Shaw as show some impressive skills! Then we have the usuals Ben Stevens, Ilogik, Dave Owens & Dom Sweeten that never disappoint me.

What is your main arsonal (DAW) for production?

I have been on Logic 8 since day 1!

What is your favorite VST or plug in?

VST's keep changing but always favorites are Gladiator, Albino 3, ES1 & ES2, Predator, Sylenth1... Plug-ins Camel Space and Camel Phat, PSP Nitro, Ohm Boyz, Quadforhmage, TBK filter & Effektrix.

When you are not producing or DJing what do you like to do for fun?

Parting... is that a good answer? haha this is all I have been doing for the last year or so! But yea I'm producing the most I can before I move to the Uk early 2010!

Any last words?

Yea, cant wait to get to thew UK in April 2010! I have been working hard to get as many tunes ready as I can and only recently started having releases out, I really cant wait to get in the studio with some of the big guys over there! I will learn so much so fast! Good times ahead!
