Starting off our Auguest interviews we have NuWave's own Evo'D & Maxwell.
The North Wales duo are no stranger to the hard house scene, with thier tracks being supported by the likes of Lisa Lashes, Paul Glazby, Andy Farley, The Tidy Djs, Ed Real, Jp & Juksey, Lucy Fur, Defective Audio and of course us here at The Beat Ranch to name just a few. When not producing awsome tracks you can catch them behind the decks at such events as Atomik Weekender, Kiddstock, Hardcore Till I Die, Clinic, Sleepwalk, Zion and Gravity.
Now with out any further ado, the imfamous duo Evo D & Maxwell

Welcome to The Beat Ranch guys, will start with the usual, where bouts are you from and what is the scene like out there at the moment?
Evo: I'm from Prestatyn and Maxwell is from Meliden which is the resort town of Prestatyn (The bit they didn’t want haha) We think the scene is going strong at the moment. The tracks out there at the minute are quality you got new artist like Rich Resonate / Hi Freak1c / Venkman / Jon Bw / Ross Homson / Curve Pusher / Scott Atrill / Tim Stokes plus loads more so hope all these lot keep churning them out. On the event side of the scene North Wales is pumping at the minute you got the main man Danny Killa who runs a promotion company called menu events and runs his own night The Clinic. He is putting on some big parties and bringing in some big brands like Goodgreef / Tidy / Godskitchen / Cream and putting North Wales on the map (The welsh deffo know how to party hard haha)
Max: Meliden is the posh part attached to prestatyn ;)
What got you guys into the Hard House and Nrg scene to begin with?
Evo: I got into it by listening to a good mate Ben Williams on the decks who loves banging out the Nrg he had every passion record (Andy ball bag Moor haha) and hammered them out every time I went round there for weeks. I first got some Numarks tt100’s to see if i could pick it up and I did so i went out and got a 2000 pound loan and got 2 CDJ800s 2 Technic 1210’s Mk5s and a DJM 600 and bought shit loads of vinyl and it all started from there
Max: I used to listen to Cream, old hardcore Kinetic and Gabba tapes when i first started listening to dance music around 2000 but i only started listening to HardHouse about 6 or so years ago. In our circle of friends at that time a few of my mates had decks and used to play Hard House, and from there i started to mix and eventually got some turntables. Funnily enough my first pair was some second hand ones of Danny’s old Numark’s, can’t remember the model though. I think the stand out tracks that got me into the scene were stuff like Karim "Osaka 2000" , Defictive Audio "Floor Burn" & early passion records stuff like "Rambuctious Behavior" , "Contagious" & "Devils Tricks". All proper dirty little numbers from that time.
What came first for you guys, DJing or Production?
Evo: Djing was first for me then went onto fruity loops and started producing.
Max: Yeh same for me Djing came first
How did your partnership come to be, and how long have you guys been DJing together?
Max: We started producing together at first, i would go down to dannys more or less every weekend and we would both sit there and write tracks saturday & sunday. So i think a natural progression to DJ together came from there. Before that i had only had a couple of gigs, one at Nuwave and another at a night called Audio Fury.

What was your greatest or most memorable djing experience?
Evo: Atomik weekender was wicked because we have been going to the weekenders for years and that was our dream. But crowd wise would have to be a Hardstyle night called Zion @ Midnights in Telford we showed them Hardstylers the way of Hard Nrg haha.
Max:Max: Yeh as Evo said but also a good stand out one for me would have to be when we played at Danny Killa & friends earlier in the year which Kutski headlined at. The atmosphere was wired and the dancefloor was packed with a good 600 heads at a predominantly techno and hardstyle event so was good to introduce them to the Hard House. Also playing for Tidy & in the Frantic arena at Kiddstock was wicked, being in the same arena as some of the people that first got us into the sound was a great feeling.
Whats been your worst or most unusual?
Max: Has to be playing at B2T. I remember we had a gig at Tuition in Manchester then flew down with a bus full to B2T. We were playing at 5 in the morning in the Dungeon and there was this bloke there about 6"4, in a suit and built like a Giant Haystack. Every time Danny was mixing he'd collar me and start talking absolute gibberish. Saying "I want you to put a bring bring da da buzz buizzz wooooow on it when you go back up there lad, really dirty you know what i mean”. He did the same to Danny too. Every mix for about 40mins. Haha. There was no way we was telling him where to go, he looked like he would squash us like a pea.
Evo: haha yeh what Maxwell said
How long have you guys been producing for?
Max:About 2 and a half years together.

What program or VST could you not live without?
Evo: Sony Acid Pro 7 - Blue – Sylenth – Jungalist – Psp Nitro – UhBik
Max: Also ABL Audio Realisim
Who or what would you say are some of your influences throughout your careers?
Evo: RR Fierce, Glazby, Andy Farley, and Kutski
Max: Kev Energy, Glazby, Farley, Mik Cree, John Doe, Kutski, BK, Justin Bourne, Jp & Jukesy, Defective Audio, Grady G, RR Fierce, Bootek, Mark EG, Uberdruck and M-Zone.
You guys are known for your Nrg mostly but you have recently come up with Sturty Kitz sound. What made you change style?
Max: Branching out I guess. Always love the tuff Hard House and Nrg as you will tell from the mix ;) but we both have always loved the groovy side of scene too.
What can we expect from you guys on the production front in the coming months?
Evo: Lots more Sturdy Kitz tracks and a few Evo D & Maxwell tracks. We have another alias which we started 2 weeks ago called E.D.M which will be mainly Tech Trance. We have had support from Judge Jules, Fabio Stein, Jordan Suckley Dave Asprey to name a few so really looking to push that more but will still be doing the harder tracks as always. Think it helps a lot that we produce different styles as you can incorporate it into all genres. Check out our sound cloud accounts if you want to hear our new tracks first. It kicks ass on Myspace. Its like myspace but with twitter and facebook combined and good quality 320 Kbps Mp3 coming out of the built in Music player

You also started up label, Nu-Wave. How did that come about?
Evo: I started it as a outlet for my tracks but wish I never now as the quality just wasn’t there at the labels early years but at the time you think it’s the dogs gonads haha
What tunes can DJs expect from it in the next few months?
Evo: Lots more of our own productions which are sounding a lot tighter now with all the youtube videos we have been watching haha. The new equipment I have bought helps a lot more now mmmm Mackie
Max: Well Ridgeback has just been released digitally and is only available on the Nuwave Store (Plug Plug), we have a few more Sturdy Kitz tracks due out soon on NuFunk (Nuwave's sister label) and a remix on the New Sumo Training CD. Oh and "Salvation" has just been released on TID.
Your website has a digital shop on it, what makes it different from sites like TrackitDown or Juno?
Evo: I started this primarily to get the artists on our labels Nuwave Records / Digital, NuFunk Records more of a cut on sales and the only way was to start my own download store. I then thought I may as well help all the other Hard House labels out and get them on board so they can to give more money back to the artist. If you buy a track from the store you are putting TWICE the amount of money back into the pockets of your favorite artists and labels so it’s all good and it makes me feel good inside for doing my good deed haha. Oh and you can now get the Vinyl labels back cat (Razor Recordings & Test Lab Recordings) on MP3 at The Nuwave Store and only there
