Starting off our October interviews we have the imfamous DJ Elle.

Having played events such as Twist, Cyberkitten, Frantic, Tidy, Insekt & Logic, DJ Elle has made her name known and then some. Having been a hit on the decks, she took her experience from the dancefloor and brought it to the studio, producing such tracks as "True Darkness", "Heart & Soul", and "Soul Feeling" with the likes of Tom Parr, Dan Dyson & Riggsy.

Now with out any further ado, DJ Elle

Welcome Elle, you are no stranger to us here at The Beat Ranch as your track with Riggsy, "Heart & Soul" was a big hit on our label. As well as your track with Dan Dyson called True Darkness. For those who do not know where abouts are you from, and what is the scene like out there at the moment?

Well right now I live in Leeds but I am originally from Alderney in the Channel Islands! The northern scene is doing pretty well at the moment with the likes of Toolbox, Hi Oktane, Parlez–Vous, Rave On! and Killertrax all putting on very strong nights!

Your DJing name use to be Dirty Bitch, what made you change your name? No longer dirty?

Haha! There’s only so many ‘dirtybitch’ jokes a girl can take, lol. No, I moved up north, grown up a little, was mixing other genres and wanted to have something a little more PC! You will still find the dirtier side of dance in anything I play.

What got you into hard house over other genres in the scene?

One word! Karim! Nuff said!

Do you listen to anything other then hard house?

Yeah I love Electro, House, Tech House and Tech Trance, loving David Guetta at the moment and Laid Back Luke! I recently went to Ibiza for the 2nd time this year and really enjoyed going out to all different nights like Cream, Pure Pacha and Space.

On the production front, you seemed to have gone a little quiet, are you working on anything new at the moment?

I wouldn’t say that, but I cannot get in the studio as much as I would like due to having a full time job that involves working weekends too. ‘Diva’ is due to be released soon on the Nitroktane CD singles and my most recent project is coming out on the Lucy Fur Presents Girls @ Work EP on Toolbox which I am very excited about. It’s all about the ‘Rockstar’, which was engineered by Daz White ;)!

You have collaborated with the likes of Riggsy, Dan Dyson and Tom Parr, who would you like to collab with next?

Yeah, I’m lucky enough to have had the pleasure of collaborating with quite a few people. I especially enjoyed teaming up with Miss Fur and Daz White recently. In terms of future collabs, I’d like to perhaps do some stuff with Weazal, Dirty Pitch, Wayne Smart and perhaps a Mr Farley! I’m looking forwards to getting back in the studio with Daz White to be honest as I think we are going to get some electro beats on the go as well in the very near future.

On the DJing front you have played at such events as Twist, Cyberkitten, Frantic, Tidy, Insekt & Logic, where can people see you play out next?

You can catch me playing at:

Frantic and Twist present The Harder Nation – The Official Hard House Academy Afterparty on Sun 18th Oct @ Hidden

Toolbox Trilogy (Part Three) - The Girls @ Work EP Launch on Frid 4th Dec @ ALTER EGO

One Awsum Xmas – The 2nd Birthday Bash on Sat 5th Dec @ Hidden

If you could play anywhere in the world for a night where would it be and why?

I think it would have to be at a massive festival like Dance Valley, what a buzz, a sea of hands in the air all raving it up with you! I’d like to play either the sunrise or the sunset!

What has been your worst moment up on the decks?

It was years ago, back in the day when I played for Afterlife at George IV in London. There were a few messy moments, lol, ejecting CD’s was my speciality! But one particular set, this guy walked behind the decks and held a lego gun to my head screaming ‘faster..faster..harder…harder… I actually thought that it was the next DJ coming on, so laughed at him and carried on mixing. Anyway, mid mix the guy is back again, gun to my head… faster… faster… by this point I thought it a little strange, but proceeded to mix in the next track… all of a sudden it started going out of sync big time, I turned around to see the little man with a lego gun pitching up the deck mid mix, screaming faster…faster…harder…harder! Well all I can say was that he was lucky the only thing that went clatter clatter clash boom wallop, was my mix! ;)

You recently started up your own club photography website, have you always been into photography?

Yeah, I’ve always loved photography and taking pictures, so last year when I got my bonus at work I decided to invest in some decent kit! I love it, it’s great. I get to capture the moment and meet a complete load of nutters too! I’ve covered quite a few events now for DSI, and was even lucky enough to cover some of the bigger clubs in Ibiza this summer, as well as DJ out there! My real passion at the moment is Boudoir photography. Ideally long term I’d like to do that and weddings. At the moment, I’m doing a lot of DJ profile/promo pictures, which is fab!

What event will you be taking pictures at next?

I’ll be snapping it up at Hard House Academy on the 17th Oct!!!

When you are not going out to clubs or mixing on the decks what do you do for fun?

I love fishing, so try to get out and do that with my Dad as often as I can, but it’s not as often as I’d like. I’ve also recently bought a house, which needs a serious amount of work doing to it- so that’s taken up a lot of my spare time too!

Any last words?

Yes, massive thanks to Lucy, Nik and the Toolbox crew who have given me lots of support this year with my music and photography. Also a massive thank you to Daz White for putting up with my diva demands in the studio ;), you are a KING!! Big thanks to all those fans and DJ’s that have attended my gigs and played my tunes and of course thank you Beatranch boys for the interview! Mwah! x x x
